Questions/FAQs Questions/FAQs

Q. What is required to build the different levels of plans on the site?

A. Our plans our split out into level for just this purpose, to make sure you have the skills and tools required to complete the plan your order. Here is how we have it broken down and what is required for each level:

Beginner Plans: These plans are for those people who have never built from a plan before and have very minimal tools. These plans are usually 1 to 2 pages in length and are usually laid out to actual size. The building procedures for the project are very basic and usually only require a saw and hammer.

Intermediate Plans: These plans are for those people a little more skilled with woodworking and have followed a plan for building before. Plans are anywhere from 1 to 4 or 5 pages in length and require a little more skill in building. Depending on the plan it may have step-by-step instructions or minimal instructions with a complete drawings of everything coming together. The tools required would be basic woodworking tools, a hammer, saw, router, drill, etc.

Expert Plans: These plans are for our most skilled craftsmen who have working knowledge of all woodworking skills which includes creating jigs and lathe work and using shapers and planers. These plans are usually to actual size and anywhere from 1 to 6 pages long. These usually do not include step-by-step instructions but rather complete drawings of the entire project going together. There are minimal instructions when needed. This allows you as a woodworker to keep your style and not repeat ours. We are all looking to be original or we would not be here trying to find a great plan.

Q. I have purchased a downloadable plan but can not download it. Why?

A. Actually you probably are but just do not realize it. Our plans are hi-res plans and therefore take a few moments to download.

The largest plan, a 6MB file, can take up to 12 minutes on a 56k modem to actually download to your desktop.

Q. I have purchased a downloadable plan. How do I download it?

A. After your purchase is approved the steps to follow for downloading your plan are listed below. If you still have problems let us know by using our contact form.

Go to http://www.cidwoodworking.com/

In the upper right corner, click on the words "My Account "

Enter your email address and the password you created when you entered your purchase information.

Once you click the "Sign In" button, the screen will change to show your account area. This includes your new order located next to the "Previouse Order" icon. Click on the "View" button next to your order.

You will then see your entire purchase information. Located under your incoive is a section called "Download Links". Each plan that was a downloadable plan now has its name in this section with a hyperlink on the name of the plan as well as a Download" button. Just click on either the name or the button and a window will pop up asking you where to save the file you wish to download.

Once you have saved the file to your hard drive you can open and view it using Adobe Acrobat Reader If you do not have it you can download it for free by going to http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html .

Q. How do I get the Free Adobe Acrobat Reader?

A. Adobe Acrobat Reader can be downloaded by going to http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html .

Q. How long will it take my order to arrive via On-line processing?

A. For all online orders processed with a credit card and verified, your order will take approximately one to two weeks for us to process. This is dependant on time of year, i.e. holidays and special sales. You must allow for mailing time after this period.

Q. How long will it take my order to arrive via your mail in order form?

A. For all orders that are sent in via our online order form or our printed catalog via regular standard mail, your order will take approximately four to six weeks from the time of you dropping it in the mailbox. This has to allow for the time of your mail coming to us. You must then allow for mailing time back to you after this period.

Q. What types or styles of furniture do you carry and how do I know which style is which?

A. We carry just about every style of furniture imaginable. (Early American, Spanish, Modern American, Queen Anne and Mission) We do not currently list what style an item is due to it being included in several different groups. We may try to list these groups on each if this is a problem.

Q. Why are a lot of the same items listed in the intermediate and expert plans?

A. We are not listing the same furniture each time. It will (if you look closely at the large picture) have different detailing. such as molding or turned legs. These are the styles we spoke of in the above question.

Q. How do I use the On-line processing process?

A. If you click on the "Ordering Info" link above, there is a detailed description for doing both on-line processing as well as mailing your orders.

Q. How do I put CIDWoodworking.com on my safe senders list?

A. To address the problems of SPAM, many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and email systems now block or filter emails that are not from a "safe sender." Since key CID Woodworking communications, i.e. invoices and follow up shipping details, will be sent to you exclusively through email, it is very important that you add the cidwoodworking.com domain and or email addresses to your list of accepted senders.

All emails will be coming from the following addresses:

  • cidwoodworking.com
  • tmize@cidwoodworking.com
  • admin@cidwoodworking.com

Below is a list of some popular ISPs with directions on how to add cidwoodworking.com to your known sender list. Please note, some of these steps may have changed since the creation of this since ISPs are constantly updating. If the steps for your particular application below are not correct below, we would really appreciate an email to let us know the correct ones so other customers may benefit from your knowledge.
